Julia Walter
DIRECTOR & SCREENWRITERJulia has a passion for comedies. She believes that films offering two hours of joy and laughter are a gift, as laughter promotes happiness, reduces stress, lowers cortisol levels, and boosts the immune system.
Her stories are vibrant and dynamic, often “larger than life” but still grounded in reality. Julia has demonstrated this with her diverse film projects, such as a comedy about dementia, a buddy comedy on climate activism, and a supernatural tragicomedy about a ghostly mother. For Julia, entertainment and relevance go hand in hand, and she aims to address meaningful topics in an engaging way. She writes her comedies with her partner, Jakob Vogt, focusing on both interpersonal and societal themes to captivate a wide audience.
Julia studied film directing at the prestigious Munich film school. Her short films have been widely acclaimed at international festivals, with her psychological thriller, JOB INTERVIEW alone being shown at over 100 festivals and winning numerous awards.
Additionally, Julia is active in climate and political movements. Born in East Germany, she has lived in Erfurt, Hamburg, and Munich, and now resides with her family on Lake Constance.
