Nancy Biniadaki
Director & ScreenwriterNancy was born in Athens, and feels at home in Berlin too.
She’s been working as a director/ writer in film and television, fiction and documentary, theatre and opera for many years, moving across different artistic forms and creating interdisciplinary projects.
She’s always been fascinated by literature and storytelling. She first studied Classical Philology, but soon went on to Film. She learnt theatre by working close to renowned directors that she considers her mentors.
She’s always been fascinated by the concept of the tragic hero as a dramatic means to explore human nature. She is keen on creating powerful and honest female characters, being a woman herself and experiencing the world through a female body.
Working with actors is central to her work, as well as joining forces with a bunch of interesting creative people following a common vision.
She is interested in a personal, emotional and political cinema, searching for alternatives to patriarchy and capitalism. She believes in drama as a shared experience, in freedom, justice, respect, and tolerance in any private, professional and artistic collaboration.
