Alrun Fichtenbauer

Alrun Fichtenbauer put her first stories to paper before she was old enough for school, but she kept them to herself. As a teenager, she was still writing: poems about pain and hurting, and a story about a traveller getting lost in Ulysses´ time. She won a competition with that story, but still – to make a living out of writing seemed inconceivable. Thematically at least, she stayed within reach, studying linguistics and German studies, earning her first money as a film critic. The realisation that she should write scripts hit her quite unexpectedly, in the middle of a long tree-lined road in Portugal, at the age of 26.

Many scripts and screenplays later, writing is still her greatest happiness. She dedicates herself passionately to her TV series projects and continues to work on films for TV or screen. In the process, the emotional core of each story is the treasure that must be unearthed and raised to the surface, especially so in a complicated crime story.

Alrun Fichtenbauer lives and writes in Vienna. If she’s not writing, she is immersing herself in far away times and alien worlds. Or listening to live music.
