Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey

Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey began writing and directing plays, radio plays and short films at an early age to combat the rural dreariness of his home village, which, to his delight and surprise, were promptly shown successfully at festivals. With a curious idea of ​​bohemianism, Sartre and Henry Miller in his pocket, he applied to art schools with great enthusiasm and pursued his initially undirected dream of becoming an artist.

Influenced by his experience of civilian service in intensive care for severely handicapped people, Arndt stayed in Hamburg and worked in all areas of the film, theater and art industry as a prop master, lighting technician and camera assistant. During this time, he already received his first paid roles in theater, film and television productions. He did not take the entrance exam for film directing at the HFF Munich that he had originally wanted to take, when he was offered a place to study acting at the University of Music and Theatre in Hanover. After a permanent engagement at the theater, a dense phase of high-quality film and television productions followed, including international collaborations with greats such as Quentin Tarantino, David Cronenberg and Michael Fassbender.

Besides his work as an actor, Arndt is active as a lecturer and coach, inter alia for screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.

Furthermore, Arndt founded the **Institute for Adventure**. In collaboration with Liza Reichardt, this resulted in a creative collective dedicated to the development of scripts, series concepts and media formats. Together with Liza, he also developed TrustBox, a digital platform that promotes diversity and inclusion in the workplace and actively counteracts discrimination through interactive storytelling and an AI-based chatbot.
