Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey
Director & ScreenwriterIn his early youth, Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey began to write and stage plays, radio plays and short films against the rural dreariness of his home village, which to his delight and surprise were promptly shown successfully at festivals. With a curious idea from Boheme, Sartre and Henry Miller in his pocket, he enthusiastically applied to art schools and pursued his initially undirected dream of becoming an artist. Characterized by the experience of community service in intensive care for the severely disabled, Arndt stayed in Hamburg and works in all areas of the film, theater and art business as a prop, lighting technician, camera assistant, etc. During this time, he had first paid roles in theater, film and Offered television, and when he finally got a place to study drama at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover, he no longer took the intended entrance examination for film directing at the HFF Munich. After the permanent engagement at the theater, a dense phase of high-quality film and television productions began. This is how international collaborations were created, for example with Quentin Tarantino, David Cronenberg and Michael Fassbender. With great commitment, he works as a lecturer and coach at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, among others. He is an active member of the German and European Film Academy and the Society for Artistic Research.
Arndt is the founder of the Institute for Adventure – in collaboration with Liza Reichardt, a collective for the development of scripts, series concepts and media formats was created.
