Birgit Jaeckel

Our author was seven when her mother typewrote Birgit’s first manuscript. As teenager, her family sometimes wondered about that “basement kid” retreating downstairs every day to write a novel. She outgrew the basement but not the love for storytelling.

After her M.A. in archaeology and some time in Norway and Stockholm, Birgit moved to the Bavarian Alps. Surrounded by mountains she continued to work as novelist and communication consultant while digging deep into screenwriting. She loves the process of writing condensed, focusing on the essential and creating powerful imagery through words.

Speaking about her fascination with greatness: Birgit traveled by dogsled through the Arctic, sailed to Antarctica and spent ten years working closely with the heroes of the “Alternative Nobel Prize”. She attended scout classes, spent nights crawling among thorn trees, and sees herself as deeply rooted in martial arts. She creates characters that are their own natural force and enjoys playing with big moments. Birgit allows her characters to be complex. After all she, too, copes with a smile with her own contradictory aspects. Which may be one reason why she never narrowed herself down to a certain genre or format.

Her passion to express life and its magic echoes into Birgit’s coaching: besides storytelling, she teaches Zen Martial Arts, Yoga and meditation.
