Opening the audience’s eyes to new ideas or making them close their eyes to indulge with all their other senses. Drawing the viewer into the story through big pictures and subtle nuances. Always finding the right tonality…that’s what cinematographer Joe Berger is passionate about.

In addition to many years of experience on set, Joe studied production at the Vienna Film Academy and got his master’s degree in cinematography at the Hamburg Media School. Joe loves to challenge himself. From feature films to documentaries, he knows how to speak to his audience through innovation and creativity. His aim is to create an immediate pathway between the story and its audience.

Joe appreciates team work and production efficiency, which have proven to be essential during his work in various departments of the film industry.

His work has screened at numerous international festivals and has won awards including the Max Ophüls Prize and the German Camera Award.

Joe works worldwide and is at home in Berlin and Vienna.
