Thomas Glöckner
ScreenwriterThomas Glöckner, born in 1970, grew up in Karl-Marx-Stadt and Potsdam, trained to be an East German Sailing Champion but went to the cinema as often as he could – no other movie touched him like Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America. He fled the GDR but returned to East Berlin shortly after the wall came down and finished school. At the age of 21 Thomas had his first shot at making movies as the unit manager for a Polish feature film. He went on to study production at the Film Academy in Potsdam, worked as a producer at Studio Babelsberg and started writing screenplays.
Thomas’ work includes comedy and true stories told from unusual perspectives. Equipped with a wry sense of humour his characters fight for their dignity against life’s obstacles. Mainly responsible for his inspiration are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Vince Gilligan and Noah Hawley.
